BattleBots IQ Teacher Training Institute
A Program of Competitive Math, Science and Technology

teacher_training_1.jpg - 56004 Bytes The BattleBots IQ Teachers Training Institute is a week long, in-depth program whereby educators learn the requisite engineering skills and successful academic strategies necessary to implement the BattleBots IQ curriculum in their schools. Educators participating in the BattleBots IQ Teacher Training Institute, learn these skills through the invention and fabrication of 12-pound, competitive, tele-robotic machines designed to meet an engineering challenge. The process of designing and fabricating robust, competitive machines requires the development and application of the academic skills and knowledge necessary for starting and maintaining a BattleBots IQ high school engineering program.

This program affords students, and teachers the competitive excitement of athletics and the empowerment and satisfaction that comes from thinking, knowing and doing, and the BattleBots IQ Teacher Training Institute will provide you with the educational resources necessary for success.

BattleBots IQ is an attractive and engaging High School program that supports the math, science and technology benchmarks specified by state Departments of Education nationwide.

BattleBots IQ Teacher Training
  • Provides teacher with the information, content and educational resources they need in order to develop a stimulating, engaging and comprehensive program of engineering activities that require the development and exercise of academic, vocational and career skills and knowledge.
  • Provides teachers with details and direction they need to source the supplies, materials, tools and knowledge they need to successfully develop an effective BBIQ program.
  • Outlines the structure, strategies and costs of participating in the nationally recognized BattleBots IQ Tournament in which students can demonstrate what they know, and are able to do.

BattleBots IQ is Good Education
Constructivist educational theories described by Seymour Papert and the epistemology of learning outlined by Jean Piaget support the activities used in the week long BattleBots IQ Teacher Training Institute.

Like the robot competitions made famous at leading engineering universities and institutes, the overarching purpose of BattleBots IQ is learning, knowing and doing.

Through the week long process of actually designing and building a competitive robot, educators who participate in the BattleBots IQ Teacher training institute will develop and use these academic, vocational and career skills and knowledge.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS OF THE BATTLEBOTS IQ PROGRAM
  • Building competitive robots engages students’ imagination, creativity and passion for knowing and doing.
  • teacher_training_2.jpg - 57555 Bytes
  • Students who can demonstrate successful participation and point to individual achievement in comprehensive high school engineering programs like BattleBots IQ are particularly attractive to Engineering Colleges, Universities and technical schools. Moreover, local and regional corporate sponsors willingly support high school engineering programs because they support the development of the engineering and manufacturing skills these companies need to be successful in a competitive economy.
  • The scope and volume of educational content covered in comprehensive engineering program like BattleBotsIQ can easily support a full year or multi year science and engineering course of study or after school activity.
  • Adopting a BattleBots IQ Science and engineering program will help maximize the efficient use of Technology investments made by school systems.
  • Participating in BattleBots IQ programs provides dramatic opportunities to profile school/student achievement locally, regionally and nationally.
  • This program serves as a means for male, female and underrepresented minority students to discover technical and engineering interests and aptitudes that might have gone unrecognized.
